APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FROM QUALIFIED NIGERIANS FOR DIRECT SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION INTO THE NIGERIAN NAVY IN THE UNDERLISTED
DEPARTMENTS:
1.
ACCOUNTS AND BUDGET
Applicants must possess a BSc/HND in Accountancy or Banking and Finance. ACA, ACCA, ACMA, CAN, CPA is an added advantage.
2.
CHAPLAIN
Applicants must possess a Bachelors Degree from a registered institution of theology from either of the following:
a. Catholic Mission
b. Protestant Mission
Applicants must have completed one year apprenticeship in Apostolic Ministry and recommended from the pastoral mission. Diploma certificates from either the Protestant or Catholic Ministry will be an added advantage.
3.
EDUCATION
Applicants must possess B.Ed, BA or BSc in the following fields:
a. Mathematics.
b. Statistics.
c. Physics.
d. Chemistry.
e. Biology.
f. Geography.
g. French.
h. Computer Science.
i. Political Science/International Relations.
j. Economics.
k. Guidance and Counseling. l. Library Science.
m. History.
4.
ENGINEERING
Applicants must possess an MSc or BSc or equivalent qualifications in the following fields:
a. Naval Architecture/Ship Design.
b. Mechanical/Marine Engineering.
c. Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
d. Aeronautical Engineering.
Membership of Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria (COREN) will be an added advantage.
5.
HYDROGRAPHY
Applicants must possess a B.Sc. Degree in Land Survey or Geography. Applicants with BSc Degree in Physics and Mathematics must possess a Post Graduate Diploma in Land Survey to be eligible.
6.
INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY
Applicants must possess a B.Sc./B.Tech in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Priority will be given to candidates with relevant qualification in website design, ORACLE, CISCO and JAVA certifications coupled with relevant working experience.
7.
INFORMATION
Applicants must possess an BSc/BA/HND or equivalent qualifications in the following fields:
a. Mass Communications/Public Relations.
b. Graphic Arts.
c. Printing Technology.
Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations will be an added advantage.
8.
IMAM
Applicants must possess BA Degree in Islamic/Arabic studies with special reference to Islamic Jurisprudence and Theology. Applicants with Post-Graduate Diploma in Islamic/Arabic studies must have 10 years experience. Applicants must be able to read and write in English Language.
9.
LEGAL SERVICES
Applicants must possess LL.B and BL. Possession of LLM may be desirable.
10.
LOGISTICS
Applicants may apply into either of the 2 departments namely:
a. PROJECTS
(1) Quantity Survey: Minimum of BSc required.
(2) Electrical or Mechanical Engineering: BSc/HND required.
(3) Building Engineering: Minimum of BSc required.
(4) Structural Engineering: Minimum of BSc required.
(5) Architecture: MSc required.
(6) Land Survey: Minimum of BSc/HND required.
(7) Civil Engineering: Minimum of BSc required.
b. PROCUREMENT AND SUPPLY
(1) Business Administration: Minimum of BSc required.
(2) Marketing: Minimum of BSc required.
(3) Purchasing and Supply: Minimum of BSc required.
(4) Catering and Hotel Management Minimum of BSc/HND required.
(5) Transport Management Minimum of BSc/HND required.
(6) Automobile Engineering Minimum of BSc required.
Membership of relevant professional bodies will be an added advantage.
11.
MEDICALS
a. Medical Consultants: Applicants must possess MBBS, Fellowship in area of specialization e.g. FWACS, FMCR or equivalent and current license for practice from Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN). Candidates are to apply into the following disciplines: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Internal Medicine, ENT, Radiology, Pathology, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Psychiatry, Orthopedic/Trauma, Anesthesia and Ophthalmology.
b. Medical Doctors: (General Duty Medical Officers) MBBS or equivalent degree required. Certificate of full registration and current license for practice from MDCN are relevant.
c. Dental Doctors: (General Duty Dental Officers) BDS required. Certificate of registration and current license for practice from MDCN are relevant.
d. Dental Consultants:
(1) Maxillofacial Surgery. BDS and Fellowship in Maxillofacial Surgery required.
(2) Orthodontist. BDS and Fellowship in Orthodontology required.
(3) Peridontist. BDS and Fellowship in Periodontology required.
e. Physiotherapy: Minimum of BSc required.
f. Pharmacy: Minimum of BSc required.
g. Medical Laboratory Science: BMLS or AIMLT and certificate of registration required for the following:
(1) Heamatology.
(2) Microbiology.
(3) Biochemistry.
Academic BSc degree holders are not required
h. Radiography: Minimum of BSc/HND required.
i. Clinical Psychology: Minimum of BSc required.
j. Nursing: BNSc/SRN or SRM with post basic qualification in a nursing field. Sub specializations such as ICU, A&E, Theatre, Anaesthesia will be an added advantage.
k. Bio-medical Engineering: BSc/HND required.
l. Medical Records: Minimum of BSc/HND required.
m. Nutritionist: Minimum of BSc/HND required.
 
12.
MUSIC
Applicants must possess BA/HND in music. Proficiency in any musical instrument will be an added advantage.
13.
PROVOST
Applicants must possess BSc in either Criminology or Psychology.
14.
SPORTS
Applicants must possess BSc/HND in Physical & Health Education or equivalent. Proficiency in any physical sport will be an advantage.
GENERAL INFORMATION TO CANDIDATES
1. Applicants are warned against giving false information or tendering fake certificates. Any false information or fake certificates discovered at any stage will lead to disqualification and subsequent prosecution of the applicant.
2. Applicants must possess a minimum of Second Class Lower for holders of First degree and Lower Credit for HND holders. Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
3. Applicants must possess certificates of full registration with their respective statutory professional bodies in Nigeria.
4. Male applicants must not be less than 1.68 meters tall while female applicants must not be less than 1.65 meters tall.
5. Applicants should be between 22 and 30 years of age by 31st December 2012 except Doctors. Lawyers, Architects, Imams, Chaplains and Serving Personnel who should not be more than 35 years.
6. Applicants will be shortlisted for qualifying aptitude test and the result placed on the website, notices will be duly published in national dailies.
7. Applicants are to choose a centre of their choice for the qualifying Aptitude Test.
8. Qualifying Aptitude Tests will hold on 10th Mar 2012 at 8.00 AM in the following centres:
(a). Abuja - Command Day Secondary School, Mogadishu Barracks.
(b). Bauchi – Command Day Secondary School, Shadawanka Barracks.
(c). Enugu – Command Secondary School, Abakpa Barracks.
(d). Lagos - Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Ojo.
(e). Port-Harcourt – Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Borokiri.
(f). Sokoto – Army Day Secondary School, Giginya Barracks.
9. Names of successful candidates during the qualifying aptitude test will be published in national dailies for further screening.
10. Applicants are to bring the following to the Aptitude Test Centres.
(a) Parents/Guardian Consent Form, Local Government Attestation Card, Acknowledgement Form.
(b) Photocopies of Certificates including NYSC Discharge Certificate.
(c) Please note that any attempt to inundate the Navel Headquarters with letters from any quarters by any applicant will be viewed as a poly to undermine the enlistment process and will lead to disqualification of such applicants.
SUBMISSION OF FORM
On completion of the application form, applicants are advised to click SUBMIT on the portal and print out the Pay4Me Acknowledgement Slip with applicant’s transaction ID. Applicant must visit any of the listed banks to make payment using the transaction ID.
Applicants are advised to print out a copy of both the Application Summary and Pay4Me Acknowledgement Slip.
